Public Policy Studies Program
Current Policy
Formal department policy remains unchanged - students ordinarily may not P/F a class for the major. However, students may petition the department for P/F. The department will consider petitions for exemptions to department policy - like P/F - for students on a case-by-case basis.
Policy Statement
Our policy has always allowed for students to petition for a one-time only exemption, that is, given exceptional circumstances, for the major to accept one course graded on a Pass/Fail basis. We continue to consider such petitions, and we do recognize that the extraordinary challenges associated with the pandemic have altered the learning environment in a manner that has imposed significant hardships.
