Geophysical Sciences Department
New Policy
Major students may take up to three courses P/F.
Policy Statement
In response to the ongoing pandemic and the stress that this imposes, the Department of the Geophysical Sciences has modified its grading policy for the Geophysical Sciences and Environment Science degrees for the present academic year.
This modified department policy allows students in the Geophysical Sciences or Environmental Science major to count towards their degree up to three (3) non-core courses taken as Pass/Fail between Spring Quarter 2020 and Spring Quarter 2021 (inclusive).
This ruling does not apply to core (General Education) courses which, following University policy, must be taken for a quality (letter) grade in order to count towards the degree.
Students wishing to retroactively make use of this P/F option for Autumn Quarter 2020 must notify me (the Undergraduate Advisor) before the start of Winter Quarter 2021.
Students wishing to make use of this P/F option for Winter Quarter 2021 or for Spring Quarter 2021 must notify me by Week 9 of that quarter.
